MISIC Ladders

!! This portion of the website is under construction as the MISIC curriculum is updated to align with the Iowa Core Curriculum. When that alignment is complete, the new information will be uploaded into the Ladders Database and it will be linked with the Des Cartes statements for your use.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Mid-Iowa School Improvement Consortium has developed a planning tool that links the MISIC Standards and Benchmarks with the Des Cartes Learning Continuum.

At the website below, you will find the MISIC Ladders. After opening the site, choose the subject area and grade level. What will appear is a listing of the benchmarks corresponding to that subject and grade. By selecting one of the benchmarks, you will find a listing of the entries within the Des Cartes Learning Continuum that support the teaching of that benchmark.

For example, you can click on science at eighth grade and find a listing of benchmarks, if you click on 8.4.1 Understanding properties of energy and heat, you will find a descriptor of the benchmark (Conduction, convection, and radiation will be explained and demonstrated. Other properties of energy and heat will be explained along with examples given) as well as a listing of prerequisite skills and knowledge to extending skills and knowledge that center around that benchmark about energy and heat. They are listed by RIT block so that you can determine which students are in need of learning which pieces of knowledge and in need of practicing which skills. In this instance, RIT blocks from 180 to 230 are listed.
