Student Information

To gather the most reliable test data you can, students should be informed of how the MAP test works, what they are required to do during testing, and what the results are used for.

You can find the MAP Student PowerPoint Presentation at NWEA’s Downloads, at the site given below.  Modify the PowerPoint to meet your individual needs. You will need to save the PowerPoint document locally in order to change it.

Some interesting points about the test that you might wish to share with students...
-On the math test, most questions are "calculator available" which means that a calculator comes up even when one is not needed to answer the question. When a calculator does not come up when one would be useful, it is a computation question and it is scored knowing there is not one available.
-On the Reading test, students should be aware of the strategy of reading the question before the passage. As students progress on the test, the passages become long and this can be a time saving strategy. It may also fight fatigue.
