Using MAP Scores to Plan Instruction

To learn more about the Des Cartes Learning Continuum and how it can inform instruction, please view the PowerPoint and complete the Des Cartes Activity included within. At the end of the PowerPoint, review the questions for you on slide 5, please discuss these with your colleagues.

You may want to access the Des Cartes Learning Continuum. Go to
http://www.nwea.org/then choose the button labeled "Log In: Reports Site" to log in. You will need a login and password, if you do not know your login and password your local district MAP coordinator can access that for you. Scroll down to find "Des Cartes" on the left hand navigation bar under the "Data-Tools" heading.

Some questions you might want to consider are:

-How will changes as a result of this new learning impact curriculum, instruction, and assessment?

-What can you apply as a result of your new learning?

-What strategies have you found that help you keep track of what students are ready to learn or what they need to be doing in class?

-What record keeping strategies have you found to help you assess what students are learning?

-How can you balance grade level and readiness level instruction? Do you need to balance them?

-How do you use the Des Cartes Learning Continuum to help you plan instruction?
