There are many stakeholders in each district who need to be informed about MAP testing
and its results. In this module, it is parents and students on whom we will concentrate.
Here are some questions you might want to consider as you work through
the remainder of the module:
-How will you explain the information contained
on an individual student report (the graph, the goal performance areas, Lexile range, growth over time, target growth, norm
and district average comparisons, ...)?
-What are the three most important
points you want parents to know about MAP testing?
-How do you plan
to use the RIT Reference Chart during parent conferences?
-How can you
use the MISIC/Des Cartes Frameworks with parents during conferences?
-How
is this similar to or different from how you would like to prepare students for Iowa Tests or any other assessment?
-What are the three most important points about MAP testings you believe students must know
prior to testing?
-How will you choose to prepare students for testing?
-Who else should know this new learning, how will you tell them?
-How will changes based on this new learning impact curriculum, instruction and assessment?
-What can you apply now as a result of this new learning?
-What methods for communicating with the community at large about MAP and/or MISIC have you found useful?
-How can you use the MAP individual reports to inform classroom instruction?
-What have you learned about using the MISIC/Des Cartes Framework that you edited to include
tips for parents to use when helping their students at home?
-What are
the tips you could share with other teachers about explaining MAP individual reports with parents or students?
